Travel Nepal Using ChatGPT

Use of artificial intelligence in travel is not new. We have been using virtual assistants, chatbots and recommendation engines for quite some time now. The development of AI helps in virtually all industries from data mining to actual ore mining. The AI use cases are vast and it goes without saying travel is no expectation.

With the launch of Chat GPT, an human-like response based chat AI, we can now communicate with AI and use its full potential through the medium we all love and used to, that is chat. Chatting is an integral part of this digital world, this text based communication medium is virtually used everywhere today. From Whatsapp to Instagram chat features hardly require explanation.

I think now, it’s a little easy to comprehend what Chat GPT is capable of. We can search queries in it like we do in google search bar or we can chat with it. Say hello and it will say, hello how may I assist you today? It’s truly remarkable.

ChatGPT Interface Example

Chat GPT is owned by OPEN AI,  an artificial intelligence research laboratory that was founded in 2015 by a group of technology leaders including Elon Musk, Sam Altman, Greg Brockman, and others.

Let’s look at some of the crazy examples of Chat GPT use.

Asking ChatGPT who killed King Birendra in Durbar Family Massacre?

Asking Chat GPT will AI take over humans?

Asking it to write a piece of Piano Music

As we look at the above examples, we realize the power of Chat GPT. The term Chat GPT is not new to us, if fact Nepal recently ranked second on the Google Trend Score to search for the term ChatGPT .

To use Chat GPT at full capacity we need to understand that, Chat GPT is not directly connected to the internet, it only has limited information about the world after 2021. This simply means Chat GPT is trained based on data prior to 2021.

With that said,

Let’s understand how to use Chat GPT to help us travel around Nepal.

For this test, let us take an example of a guy who wants to travel and experience Nepali culture and see amazing natural landscapes but not in remote locations and wants to finish his travel trip in under 5 days with let’s say 20 thousand rupees.

  1. First let us ask Chat GPT to act like a Local Travel Guide of Nepal.
  1. Now, let’s ask about popular travel destinations of Nepal, but exclude remote locations.

As we can see, it has given us some popular travel places that are not in remote locations. Exactly what we want. Now let’s ask the next question.

  1. Now, lets narrow our destination but travel duration and budget, that is under 5 days and Rs 20,000 in our case.

With this, it has given us examples of places such as Nagarkot, Dhulikhel, Bandipur and Pokhara. Pretty good result for travel places under Rs 20,000. So now let’s select Bandipur and ask Chat GPT to create an itinerary for the trip.

  1. Now let’s ask – I want to go to Bandipur, please create an itinerary for it.

Pretty cool, the itinerary looks good to me. It also gave me suggestions to check the road conditions and time of year before going. That will be useful. But if you don’t like this you can also ask to create another one based on your preference.

  1. Now let’s ask for affordables places to stay at Bandipur and how much they usually cost.

Awesome, now I have narrowed down the place I want to visit under Rs 20K in Nepal that is not in a remote location. I now also have a list of places I can possibly stay at while traveling in Bandipur.

  1. Now lets ask a final question about, what are the best ways to travel to Bandipur?

As you can see, it has given me the best possible ways to go to Bandipur. It has also mentioned where I need to change buses if I am traveling in a local bus and provided transportation tips as well. Simply amazing!
